Sexism: Women are love-hungry and crybabies

Thursday, 11 June 2015

Tim Hunt, 2001 Nobel prize winner, argued that laboratories should be segregated along gender line at a luncheon for science journalists hosted by Korean women scientists.

Invited at a lunch by Korean scientists, Tim Hunt affirmed that women are a source of disctraction and far too emotional for a laboratory environment. Unfortunately his remarks are not outliers in this male dominated environment.

The indignation that his comments raised on the internet, and in the scientific community pushed the Nobel laureate to publicly apologies. However, the University College London, announced that Tim Hunt had resigned from his position at University College London, as this kind of judgment cannot be admitted in the first university, in the United Kingdom, that has admitted women on a gender equality base.
