In the United States the LGBT community is particularly present and recognized. However, many conservative evangelical Christians have made highly discriminatory statements as the response to Caitlyn Jenner's cover of Vanity Fair. The debate that Caitlyn Jenner revived is particulalry important and goes beyond religious beliefs as equality for transgender people is a question of identity, not sexual practice. In other words, the debate bounces back on real implications on how policies are created in everyday communities, and how they can be improved to protect and promote equality for the LGBT community.
