Webinar: "Women and the environment: what's the link?"

The European Women's Lobby organizes a webinar from 11 am to 12 am (Brussels time) on Friday 19 June which will focus on the links between the gender issues and the environment.

The discussions will tackle the issues of women's rights and the role of women in the protection of the environment. Experts and activists form both environmental and women's organisations will exchange and share ideas in order to build bridges between knowledge and actions, between women’s organisations, environmental organisations, academics and official processes.

 

Programme of the webinar

The following themes will be discussed:

  • Why women's organizations should address environmental issues?
  • Why environmental groups should tackle the issue of women's empowerment?
  • Sustainable feminist economics
  • Study cases: Portugal and Belgium
  • The work of the European Parliament on women and the environment
  • COP21: concrete steps towards feminist climate change action

Recommendations and strategies will be developped in order to inform about the 21st Conference of the Parties (COP 21) to be held in Paris in December 2015.
