USA: a textile co-op encouraging migrants integration and diversity

The textile cooperative "Opportunity Threads" is an example of enterprise diversity and integration

In 2008, Opportunity Threads, was founded based on a worker-owned cut-and-sew plant built. This textile cooperation is led by a threefold ethical platform: social, environmental, and economic benefits for the local community. Most of the workers employed in this co-op in North Carolina are from Maya descent which reflects the diversity of the region. This co-op shows that immigrants can play a leading role in bringing back the United State’s declining apparel sector, and not just as labor but as owners and decision-makers.
