Transgender: from being a woman to a priviledged white men

Friday, 12 June 2015

James St. James changed his sexual identity from a woman to a man and discovered the change of attitudes towards him thanks to his new priveledged status as white man.

James St. James has been treated as both a man and a woman, and has noticed the complete change of attitude towards him when he became a white male. Indeed, suddenly he was being treated better by everyday America because people were identifying him as a young, white, straight male.

His list of 25 examples of white male priviledges, that he is now entitled to, gives important insight into the gender discriminations question and the work that still needs to be done. His examples are about everyday life and make us realise that gender distinction is very deeply interiorized by our society.
